Building Stronger Coaches, Stronger Teams – Cheer Coach Cheer Camp Recap

Earlier this month, I had the incredible opportunity to host a Cheer Coach Camp from May 2–4—a powerful few days filled with learning, laughter, leadership, and lots of love for cheer.

This wasn’t just any camp. It was a gathering of passionate, driven women who are shaping the future of cheerleading in their communities. Coaches came together from different programs, different towns, and different backgrounds—but we all shared the same mission: to grow, connect, and create winning environments for our athletes.

What We Covered: We dove deep into the everyday (and behind-the-scenes) responsibilities of coaching cheer.

  • Fundraising: We shared real strategies for how to raise money creatively and efficiently, especially for programs with limited resources.
  • Practice Flow: We talked through how to structure practices that are productive, time-conscious, and energizing for both coaches and athletes.
  • Motivating Athletes: Keeping kids inspired, confident, and coachable is a challenge—and we unpacked how to use encouragement, structure, and culture to keep teams motivated through the season.
  • Skill Development: From beginner to elite, we brainstormed drills, progressions, and ways to coach smarter—not harder—when building new skills safely.

More Than Just Coaching Skills

The best part? We created a community. The kind where you can ask real questions, share frustrations, and celebrate the small wins. This camp wasn’t just about cheer technique—it was about cheering on women. Coaches left feeling refreshed, seen, and reminded of their purpose.

Why It Matters

Coaching can feel isolating—especially when you’re doing it on a shoestring budget or trying to build something from the ground up. This camp proved that we’re stronger together. When coaches are equipped and supported, they don’t just build better athletes—they build better humans.

This is just the beginning. The conversations, connections, and momentum from this camp are carrying over into our gyms and communities. I can’t wait to see the ripple effect from the work we started together.
